In response to our oceans being in peril through overfishing, climate change, acidification, Bren Smith, the owner of one of the first sustainable 3D ocean farms in the US, Thimble Island Oyster Co., uses the full water column to harvest shellfish and seaweed. His project GreenWave is a “3D ocean farm,” which provides food and fuel, restores oceans and stops climate change.
Can you imagine a vertical underwater garden: seaweed and mussels grow on floating ropes, stacked above oyster and clam cages below?
